A WORKABLE DEFINITION OF WAR

(Excerpted from a lecture of 30 August 1955, RUGGED INDIVIDUALISM.)

Clausewitz says, "War is the act of compelling by force your will upon the
enemy."

War is simply convincing somebody they lost; or convincing somebody they
better now do what you want them to do and you have a workable definition. The rest
of the definitions are unworkable. Why get force in there?
